Pork Loin vs. Pork Chop

This is not an informative post just an opinionated one. I went to the store today and was price matching a cut of meat. I was informed basically because the prepackaged meat had the words "pork chops" I couldn't price match. The store was right based on their polices they have in place. They handled it poorly of course, and I will not be buying any meat from their store again but that is besides the point here.

I looked up on a few different websites the differences between pork loin and pork chops. The websites discussed they both come from the same part of the pork. The way they are prepared depends on one's tastes and recipes, etc. Just like beef there is different cuts that are more select also. Very informative.

Now how does this apply to a family who is watching their budget, trying to eat healthier, and prepare meals ahead of time for a family with growing teenagers for the week?
  1. Well for me it meant telling the said store sorry I won't be taking that boneless "pork chop".
  2. Going over to the store that actually had it on sale buying the entire pork loin and having them slice it for free into pork chops.
  3. Now I have enough pork chops for my family for a few weeks not just one.
I guess at the end of the day I still  may not know the huge $4 a pound difference between one stores and the next pork loin and pork chop, but I know my family will still be full at dinner time.
