Norwalk Grocery Shopping Weekend March 21-22

Keeping with my promise to shop local business not supercenter till the end of July I went to the Huron County Chamber of Commerce website and made sure I was going to support the two grocery stores that were members and proudly support our communities- Gardner's SuperValu Foods, and Schild's IGA

As a heavier couponer I knew this was going to be somewhat of a challenge, I was wrong. Yes I will say it again, I was wrong.

Gardner's SuperValu Foods- here is what you need to know there are extra saving cards out there if you buy the local sports team fundraiser drives so when they come by buy them. They have a website with their weekly ad and it shows you the deals and the store coupons they offer make sure and pick one up when you go in the store. They also have online manufacture coupons that you can print right from their site. Printing them here does seem to make it easier for the register to take them (I have no idea why). I respect the local business so I will not be posting their actual prices, but I will list the items I will be buying this weekend that I can not find any cheaper at any store within a 30 mile radius, and trust me I've checked them all.
  • Strip Streak
  • Head Lettuce
  • Red/Yellow Peppers
  • Trop 50
  • Seedless Cucumbers
  • Green Giant Steamers (Coupon also in their weekly ad)
  • London Broil
  • *Also don't forget to look for all the store unadvertised deals.
Schild's IGA SuperCenter- is also one of our local stores that have a lovely website. The website has a special feature that allows you to make your own shopping list straight from their weekly ad which is a great feature. There is also coupons, recipes, etc. that you can find on the site. They are having a one day sale on Saturday that is unbelievable and runs from 7am till noon. There is no rainchecks on items so get there early. Again the only stores that I haven't checked are the stores that come out with new ads on Wednesday, March 19 including Discount Drug Mart, and Aldi in Norwalk otherwise the lowest there is in a 30 mile radius that I have found that I will be buying.
  • Smith 2% Gallon Milk (3/22 ONLY)
  • IGA Spread (3/22 ONLY)
  • Ruggles Ice Cream (3/22 ONLY)
  • ****Boneless Chicken Breast****(3/22 ONLY)
  • Red Ripe On The Vine Cluster Tomatoes (3/22 ONLY)
  • Whole Snow White Mushroom (3/22 ONLY)
  • T-Bone Steak
  • Red Ripe Strawberries
  • Lay's Potato Chips
Here is a list of other stores in Norwalk that are non supercenters that I will be picking up some sale grocery items at:
  1. Walgreens- Health and beauty items, and household needs. The very hard to find pepsodent toothpaste, scotch packaging tape, and I have my eye on an outside quad chair that is on sale and can be taken to outdoor events over the summer time. Some people get overwhelmed with the points program here and the rewards etc. I think it's fun and great way to shop.
  2. CVS- Don't forget to scan your card at the coupon center when you walk in the door for all kinds of extra deals. The best one is the Coke 12 pks. 3/9 limit 6 for my family this week.
  3. Rite Aid-They have tons of Easter stuff on sale and make you feel like spring when you walk in the door.
  4. Aldi & Discount Drug Mart- I will be shopping at both of these stores also, but there ad will not be available for me until tomorrow Wednesday, March 19.
Again it bears to be repeated just my opinion and this is what works for my family. Happy weekend shopping.
